The cabinet is the constant: three full-size 20 x 4.5 inch housings, a pressure gauge on every stage and a 10 year warranty. What goes inside is chosen to suit your water, from the standard three-stage kit through to the HydroFlow Advanced kit, with fine filtration down to 0.22 micron and built-in help against scale, or DuraScale-X for homes where limescale is the main problem.
Choose your filter kit
Every Vortex Pro 3 takes a three-cartridge kit, matched to your water. Most South West homes start with the standard Vortex-Pro kit, and most of our customers step up to the HydroFlow Advanced kit or DuraScale-X. These are the three kits we fit in almost every home.
Vortex-Pro Standard Kit
Pleated sediment, grooved GPSS depth filter and 0.5 micron coconut carbon. Removes silt, dirt and rust and reduces chlorine, chloramine, taste and odour, heavy metals, pesticides, disinfection by-products and PFAS/PFOA, while keeping calcium and magnesium in the water. The everyday whole-home kit.
HydroFlow Advanced Kit
Our most popular upgrade. Pleated sediment and grooved GPSS depth filtration protect the Hydro-Flow 0.22 micron cartridge, which takes microplastics and the finest particulate out of the water, handles chlorine, chloramine and taste, and carries anti-scale media that helps reduce calcium and limescale build-up. DuraScale-X Kit
Swaps the third cartridge for DuraScale-X anti-scale media that converts hardness minerals into harmless micro-crystals, so they stop bonding to hot water elements, pipes and fixtures. No salt, no brine, no backwashing, no power, and the minerals stay in your water. Read our guide to water softening without a softener.

Inside the HydroFlow Advanced kit
One system. Three cartridges. Fine filtration and scale protection in one kit.
The HydroFlow Advanced kit is the upgrade most of our customers choose. The first two cartridges do the heavy lifting on sediment: a pleated sediment filter takes out visible dirt, sand and rust, and the grooved GPSS depth filter catches the finer particles behind it. That protects the Hydro-Flow 0.22 micron cartridge in the third housing, which does three jobs at once: fine filtration for microplastics and the finest particulate, carbon treatment for chlorine, chloramine, taste and odour, and anti-scale media that helps stop calcium and limescale bonding to hot water elements, glass and tapware.
The order matters. Each cartridge protects the one after it, which is why the kit is replaced as a complete set and fitted in sequence. The result is water that is noticeably softer on skin, glass and appliances, without a water softener and without stripping the calcium and magnesium out of it.
Treatment scope: sediment, dirt, rust, silt and suspended particulate; chlorine, chloramine, taste, colour and odour; fine particulate and microplastics to nominal 0.22 micron; PFAS and PFOA and other adsorbable organic contaminants; VOCs, pesticides, herbicides and disinfection by-products such as THMs; calcium and limescale build-up.
Pleated sediment filter
The first line of defence. A pleated sediment filter with a large surface area that removes visible dirt, sand, rust, pipe scale and suspended particulate before the water reaches the finer cartridges, so they last the full service interval.
Grooved GPSS depth filter
A grooved depth filter that catches the finer sediment the pleated cartridge lets through. The grooved exterior adds usable surface area and spreads the loading, which keeps flow up and protects the Hydro-Flow cartridge from clogging early.
Hydro-Flow 0.22 micron
The working cartridge of the kit. Fine filtration down to a nominal 0.22 micron for microplastics and the finest particulate, carbon treatment for chlorine, chloramine, taste and odour, and anti-scale media that helps reduce calcium and limescale build-up on hot water systems, glass and tapware.

All three keep the calcium and magnesium in your water and are designed for treated scheme water. The only reliable way to remove fluoride from drinking water is a reverse osmosis unit at the kitchen tap. We can supply one if fluoride is a concern for you.
Designed for treated scheme water
The nominal 0.22 micron rating describes the fine-filtration capability of the Hydro-Flow pleated media. It is intended for fine particulate and microplastic reduction on treated scheme or town water. It is not a substitute for UV or another approved disinfection barrier on rainwater, bore or surface water, it is not a water softener, and it does not remove dissolved salts. If you are on tank or bore water, see the Ultra V Pro 3. Typical residential service interval is around 12 months; actual life depends on water quality, usage and cartridge loading, and the three gauges on the cabinet show when a change is due.
