Keep your system performing at its best
Like any quality system, water filtration needs occasional care. Regular servicing keeps your water clean, your flow strong and your system protected for the long term.
We look after cartridge changes, UV lamp checks and full system inspections on the Vortex Pro 3, Ultra V Pro 3 and older Vortex-F3, using genuine WFD parts, whether or not we did the original install.

What a service includes
A Dunsborough Water Filtration service covers the whole system, not just the cartridges. On a standard visit we:
How often should a whole-home system be serviced
Annually for most homes on scheme water, which lines up with the roughly 12 month cartridge life WFD rate the Vortex Pro 3 at. Tank, rainwater and bore properties, and anywhere with heavy sediment or scale, are reviewed at six months so the first stage does not load up and starve the rest of the system. If you are unsure where your property sits, we will tell you after the first service and set the reminder accordingly. For what is in a kit and the signs a change is due early, see whole home water filter replacement.
Between services: what to keep an eye on
Nothing on a whole-home system needs daily attention, but a quick glance every few weeks catches most problems early.
The gauges
A growing gap between the stage 1 and stage 3 gauges means the sediment cartridge is loading up. Three gauges, three cartridges, one glance.
Flow at the kitchen tap
A noticeable drop in flow is the first thing most people feel. It usually means the first stage is due.
Taste and odour
If chlorine taste or smell comes back, the carbon has done its work and wants replacing.
Dampness and the UV timer
Any moisture around the cabinet or fittings is a reason to call us before the next scheduled visit. On the Ultra V Pro 3, the digital countdown timer shows how many days the UV lamp has left; when it gets close to zero, book the lamp change.
The cabinet is rated for cold water from 0 to 38 °C. If it is mounted outdoors in full sun, give it some shade.
Servicing systems we did not install
Moved into a home with a WFD system already fitted, or had one installed by someone else? Danny services existing Vortex-F3, Vortex Pro 3 and Ultra V Pro 3 systems across Dunsborough, Busselton, Vasse, Yallingup, Cowaramup, Margaret River and Eagle Bay. We identify the kit the system is running, bring it back to spec with genuine cartridges and put it on a reminder schedule like every other system we look after.
Fighting scale? Ask about DuraScale-X
If scale on the shower screen, kettle or hot water system is a problem, a service visit is the easiest time to switch the third cartridge to the DuraScale-X kit: salt-free scale protection with no brine, no backwashing and no power. Read our guide to water softening without a water softener.
Servicing FAQs
What is the difference between a service and a filter replacement?
A filter replacement is the cartridge change. A service is the cartridge change plus a check of the whole system: gauges, seals, valves, housings, UV lamp on the Ultra V Pro 3, and a flow test. For most homes the annual visit covers both. See whole home water filter replacement for kit options.
Do you service the UV unit on the Ultra V Pro 3?
Yes. We inspect the UV lamp and quartz sleeve at every service and replace the lamp every 365 days. The Ultra V Pro 3 has a digital countdown timer on the unit that shows how many days the lamp has left, so you can see for yourself when a change is due and the disinfection barrier on tank, rainwater and bore supplies stays effective.
Can I do the servicing myself?
Cartridge changes on a Vortex Pro 3 are within reach of a confident owner using the spanner supplied in the cabinet. Anything on the inlet and outlet side, pressure limiting valve checks and UV lamp replacement are best left to a licensed plumber. Danny is a licensed WA Plumbing Contractor (PL8180), so the whole system is covered in one visit.
Do you service systems you did not install?
Yes. Any Vortex-F3, Vortex Pro 3 or Ultra V Pro 3 in the South West. We will identify the kit it runs and bring it back to spec.
How do I know when my next service is due?
We record the date at every visit and send you a reminder when it comes around. If you notice a drop in flow, a change in taste or a growing gap between the gauges before then, give us a call.
What does a service cost?
It depends on the system and the kit it runs. Request a quote or call Danny on 0452 259 399 and we will confirm the price for your setup.
